Bromley Local Info
Local Cleaners Bromley has been servicing the people and businesses of Bromley for over a decade. We thought we would share a few facts that we have learnt about the area with you. Bromley is a large suburban town in south east London in the London Borough of Bromley, with the postcode BR1. Its name dates back to 862 AD, when it was recorded as 'Bromleag' which meant 'woodland clearing where broom grows. Today, it is one of the most significant commercial and retail districts outside of Central London. Market Square lies in the historic centre of the town with The Glades Shopping Centre and busy High Street nearby.
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul that stands on Church Road was largely destroyed by enemy fire in April 1941 and rebuilt in the 1950s incorporating the medieval tower and reusing much of the original stone building. For green open spaces in which to relax, you can choose from the mature and very well maintained Queen's Gardens, Martin's Hill, Church House Gardens, Library Gardens and College Green.
Bromley also has a number of theatres, a cinema and Bromley F.C. which close to Bromley North station.
The area is serviced by two railway stations, Bromley South on the Chatham mainline, which is the largest of the two, offering frequent trains into central London and Bromley North.
